
Protocol
In our Association, we subscribe to "protocol" to demonstrate that we are organized and that we have respect for the fundamental concepts of a discipline which we have imposed upon ourselves voluntarily. The following are guidelines to be used for conducting a formal Lions meeting in that respect:
The American Flag & Club Banner
The American Flag & Club Banner should be displayed at all meeting.
- U.S. Flag displayed to the President's right.
- Banner displayed to the President's left, or behind podium.
Club Meetings
- Head Table seating arrangement (facing group):
- President -- in the center, or left of podium.
- Speaker/Honored Guest -- to the President's right.
- Program Chairman -- to the Speaker/Honored Guest's right.
- Cabinet/District Officers -- to the President's right.
- Club Officers -- to the President's left.
- Opening of meeting (start on time!):
- Assembly sings first verse of "America".
- Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag -- recited with dignity.
- Invocation
- Lions Toast
- Introductions:
- Guests -- by President (or club member hosting guest).
- Principal Speaker -- by Program Chairman.
District Governor's Visitation
- Head Table seating arrangement (facing group):
- President -- in the center, or left of podium.
- District Governor -- to the President's right.
- Vice District Governor -- to the District Governor's right.
- Region Chairman -- to the Vice District Governor's right.
- Zone Chairman -- to the Region Chairman's right.
- Other Dignitaries, Club Officers -- to the President's left.
- Introduction of Guests at Head Table:
- President introduces Zone Chairman
- Zone Chairman introduces Region Chairman.
- Region Chairman introduces District Governor (at which time President prompts assembly to rise & applaud).
- Program:
- The program will be the District Governor's message.
- There shall be NO OTHER PROGRAM at this meeting.
- The District Governor will meet with members of the club's Board of Directors immediately after the formal meeting for a brief discussion relative to mutual concerns.
